Online Casinos to Protect Domains

Posted in Unspecified

An issue that steadily plagues the online casino industry has been the legislation controlling the ability for United States players to play on gaming websites. It takes center stage for a variety of legal battles that seemingly have no end in sight. Many online casinos maintain domain names and operations outside of the U.S. boundaries. For that reason, players from the United States are able to create accounts and engage in online gaming if they so desire.

Certain governing bodies within the United States are attempting to regulate the industry further. This will result in permanent blocking of players from casinos online. As problems started to arise, many online gaming websites simply began to block U.S. players from creating new accounts. Current casino accounts were deleted and money refunds were given. This was done in attempt to alleviate any problems that may arise from government officials by having U.S. players on their accounts system.

Recently the state of Kentucky has joined in the fight to block its residents from engaging in online casino practices. Plans were recently announced to take possession of over 140 website domain names in the online gaming industry. The move is an attempt for the government to restrict access to online gaming websites and prohibit new websites from popping up overnight. Any website that questions the order or refuses to stop service will be permanently blocked by the Kentucky government.

In the past, the United States federal government has taken steps to eliminate the use of foreign bank accounts conducting business with U.S. players trying to manage casino accounts at online casino gambling websites. The Kentucky government action takes things one step further. International gambling representatives are concerned as to how the new actions will affect business.

Not everyone in the online casino world is concerned. Major casino websites maintain domain hosting in the UK. This makes it virtually untouchable by the U.S. government or other state governing bodies. Those that may be touched are quickly gathering a team of representatives that will head to Kentucky and fight these latest restriction movements.

For the most part, the online gaming world is unfazed by the latest government movements and plans to do nothing. From a legal standpoint, any online casino domain name based outside of the U.S. is not subject to governmental legislation or rulings. It is viewed by many in the industry as the latest crazy idea by U.S. officials to regulate or eliminate the online casino industry.
